About the NewBridge Bank Jamboree
The NewBridge Bank Invitational Football and Cheerleading Jamboree is the single-largest event and fund-raising effort sponsored by NewBridge Bank each year. The annual NewBridge Bank Jamboree occurs over a weekend in August when high school football teams are officially allowed to scrimmage each other in preparation for the upcoming season. The event includes a premier cheer competition and two football scrimmaging venues.
100% of all proceeds from the NewBridge Bank Jamboree go back to participating schools. To date, the Bank has given over $275,000 to Piedmont Triad high schools through this event.
The NewBridge Bank Invitational Football and Cheerleading Jamboree is an honored Bank tradition with a rich history:
- 1999: NewBridge Bank hosts the first Football Jamboree. The Bank raises over $10,000 and awards it to the eight local schools participating in the Jamboree.
- 2004: Hurricane Charley interferes with competition; however, the Bank still gives over $24,000 to the eight schools that would have competed that Saturday.
- 2007: Due to the overwhelming success of the Cheer Competition, the event outgrows its one hour time limit. To compensate for this growth, the Cheer Competition becomes an independent event moving from Saturday morning to Friday night.
- 2008: The competition officially becomes the NewBridge Bank Football and Cheerleading Jamboree and doubles in size from eight to 16 schools. The Cheer Competition finds a new home at NewBridge Bank Park. NewBridge Bank awards over $70,000 to the 16 participating schools.
- 2009: The competition grows to 20 schools. NewBridge Bank sets the highest fund-raising goal in the history of the event - $100,000.
